Ageing Japan

For my final project I have decided to focus on the elderly of Japan. Japan is a country that already has over 20% of its population over the age of 65, and with a low national birthrate (only 0.02%), and rather strict immigration laws the projected age demographic numbers within the next 20 years see nearly 50% of Japan’s population over 65.

With the main goal of this project being “beautiful Japan” I wanted to try and show how the elderly can be “beautiful” in their own way.

This picture was taken last October in Hiroshima. This man was painting a picture of the Atomic Bomb Dome.
